FSETTING UP THE 5020 IP TELEPHONE TO

ORK WITH 5700 VFA

™

5700 Voice First Application (VFA) server acts as a gateway

for video terminals with each terminal consisting of a camera, video screen and

telephone. Video transmission is handled through the 5700 VFA server while audio

transmission is performed by the Mitel Networks 5020 IP telephone. The 5700

VFA monitors the call progress of all registered 5020 IP phones and notifies any

sets that are involved in calls using videoconferencing. To do so, the 5700 VFA

requires the 5020 IP phone’s Directory Number in order to get the appropriate call

state information. In turn, the 5020 IP phones require the 5700 VFA’s IP address in

order to initiate communication to the server.

For the two to interact properly, you must:

1. Manually program the IP address of the 5700 VFA server on the 5020 IP

phone. One of the programmable keys on the phone will be defined as the

"VIDEO" button used for the audio portion of videoconferencing calls

through the set.

2. Register the 5020 IP phone with the VFA Administrator.

NOTE 5020 IP Phones programmed with a "VIDEO" key will reserve that key

for videoconferencing. You cannot re-program the key either through the

Mitel NetworksTM 3300 Integrated Communications Platform 's (ICP)

Desktop Tool or using the Superkey.

F.1 Programming A 5020 IP Phone To Interact With A

5700 VFA

The purpose of this procedure is to store the static IP address of the 5700 VFA

server into a 5020 IP phone's non-volatile (flash) memory. This will program the

phone so that the "Video" function is permanently assigned to a specified key.

NOTE Before beginning this procedure, obtain the IP address of the server on

which the 5700 VFA is running.
